Tranexamic Acid, Drugs stop bleeding

Tranexamic acid is used to help stop the bleeding condition. Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic agent. This drug works by blocking the breakdown of blood clots, which prevent bleeding. These drugs are only available by prescription.

The drug is available in the following dosage forms:
1. Tablet
2. Syrup

Indication

1. To help stop the bleeding
2. Long-term management of hereditary angioedema

Contraindications

1. Severe renal failure
2. Active intravascular clotting
3. Thromboembolic disease
4. Impaired color vision
5. Subarachnoid hemorrhage

Dose

Adult
1. For short-term management of bleeding
1 to 1.5 g 2-4 times / day

2. Long-term management of hereditary angioedema
1 to 1.5 g 2-3 times / day

Side effects

Along with the required effect, the drug can cause some side effects. Although less likely to experience side effects on the use of this drug, but in the event of side effects may require medical treatment.

2. Problems in breathing
3. Bleeding or unusual bruising
4. Fatigue or weakness
